Are Jets Still Interested In Michael Vick?
(2/24 7:13 PT)

The Facts:

This despite a report by the New York Daily News over the weekend indicating the Jets weren't interested in Vick. That said, Jets coordinator Marty Mornhinweg is Vick's former coordinator with the Eagles. According to Rapoport, the understanding is that there is "mutual respect" between the two men. Vick is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent next month. Vick's experience and professionalism is seen as a positive for incumbent Jets starter Geno Smith, who went through his rookie season without a legitimate backup quarterback on the roster. Vick would also provide legitimate competition for Smith, who hasn't received a vote of confidence from the organization after an up-and-down rookie campaign. Daily News staffer Manish Mehta reported that Josh McCown is of greater interest to the Jets, but it's hard to argue that Vick doesn't make sense if there's a short-term need. ... Stay tuned.
