Harbaugh: Ravens Need To Overhaul Running Game
(2/26 2:52 PT)

The Facts:
Upgrading the running game ranks atop the Ravens' agenda following a frustrating season in which they were consistently stonewalled upfront and finished 30th in the NFL in rushing offense. "I think the whole thing just needs an overhaul," HC John Harbaugh said last Friday at the NFL Scouting Combine. Reported by the Baltimore Sun

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Running backs Ray Rice and Bernard Pierce were both affected by injuries and a lack of consistent blocking all season. The Ravens gained a franchise-record low 1,328 rushing yards last season, averaging 3.1 yards per carry with just seven touchdown runs. Rice rushed for just 660 yards for the season, a career low as a starter. "It was a myriad of things," Harbaugh explained. "We didn't block people well. We didn't move people. We didn't get on people. ... Our backs both weren't 100 percent and they didn't make enough guys miss, didn't break enough tackles. ..." Of course, Rice's offseason has been marred after being charged with simple assault-domestic violence this month following an incident at an Atlantic City casino -- a development that clearly adds to the intrigue. The Ravens have enough questions with their running game that the answers may come in this year's draft. As Sun staffer Aaron Wilson notes, the Ravens met with several top running back prospects last week at the combine. ... It's worth watching.
