Those two deals cleared close to $8 million, so Brown's new deal makes that $12 million. To save additional salary-cap room, the Steelers also released tackle Levi Brown, cornerback Curtis Brown and linebacker Larry Foote. ... The new deal does nothing to change Brown's role as the team's leading downfield threat.
