Bradley: Chad Henne Likely The Jags Week 1 Starter
(3/7 6:0 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... The Jaguars reached a deal to keep Henne with the team for the next two years on Friday. GC Gus Bradley said re-signing Henne was "very important. We talked about Chad being a top priority right after the season and now to get it done prior to free agent starting, I think it opens up some other options for us." Bradley said Henne will be the starter entering the start of OTAs this spring. He said Henne would likely be the Week 1 starter even if the Jaguars draft a quarterback No. 3 overall, which remains unlikely. Reported by the Florida Times-Union

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
According to Times-Union staffer Hays Carlyon, Henne's two-year contract is worth $8 million ($4.5 million guaranteed). GM Dave Caldwell said the contract included incentives for starting games. The move had been expected, as the Jaguars wanted to keep Henne in the fold because of his knowledge of offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch’s system. Henne started 13 games last season (including the last 11) and played in 15 because of Blaine Gabbert’s consistent injury issues. The 28-year-old Henne threw for 3,241 yards with 13 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Henne started in all four of the team’s wins last season. He completed 60.6 percent of his passes. Carlyon added, "Gabbert’s future with the Jaguars is now in real jeopardy."
