According to Herald staffer Jeff Howe, the early recovery timetable is estimated at 2-3 months, so he'll miss the beginning of the Pats' offseason workout program, which begins April 21. On the early side, Dobson might be ready for organized team activities, but the later recovery timetable would put him in jeopardy of missing the entire offseason program, including June mini-camp. The Patriots and Dobson hoped rest would heal the foot, which is why they waited so long for today's procedure. Dobson returned to New England about two weeks ago to continue his rehab at Gillette Stadium and to determine if surgery would be necessary. And it was. ... We'll follow up as needed.
