Matt Schaub Still A Texan... And That Might Not Change Soon
(3/12 6:4 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on the ongoing story. ... Are the Texans and Browns suddenly in a stare down over quarterback Matt Schaub? Less than an hour after the Browns released Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell on Wednesday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Schaub is a candidate to end up in Cleveland, where he would be reunited with OC Kyle Shanahan. Minutes later, the Houston Chronicle's John McClain reported that the Texans are keeping Schaub "for a while." Reported by NFL.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
It's a reversal from six days ago, when McClain tweeted that he would be "stunned" if the team holds on to Schaub. McClain also opined that Schaub is better than any quarterback who "was or is on the market" and that Schaub is "not going anywhere anytime soon. ..." As NFL.com's Chris Wesseling translated, "With a vacancy at the top of the quarterback depth chart and no pressing salary-cap issues, the Texans are not in a hurry to do the Browns any favors. If they can wrangle a late-round draft pick out of the process, all the better. ..." In the end, Wesseling expects Schaub to move on. But he's not a lock to save anybody's franchise. Per Wesseling: "An abject disaster last year, Schaub hasn't played like a quarterback who trusts his arm since the middle of the 2012 season."
