Dexter McCluster Likely To See Time At Running Back With Titans
(3/13 7:20 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... McCluster isn’t exactly sure how the Titans will use him, but he’s looking forward to finding out. HC Ken Whisenhunt said he thinks of McCluster more as a RB, but with the capability of doing many things. “He has a body of work for four years now that you have evidence of what he can do,” Whisenhunt said.  Reported by the Nashville Tennessean

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Bottom line? It sounds like we can expect McCluster to be a passing target out of the backfield and from the slot as the offense plays up his mismatch potential. The 5-8, 170-pounder has 662 rushing yards and 1,500 receiving yards in his four NFL seasons, with six starts at running back and 17 at wide receiver. He’s averaged 12.1 yards as a punt returner and 20.9 as a kickoff returner. He has three punt-return touchdowns, including a 94-yarder that is the longest in Chiefs history. McCluster played running back at Ole Miss — earning first-team All-SEC honors as a senior with 1,169 rushing yards and 520 receiving yards — and spent most of his first three NFL seasons at running back. He shifted to wide receiver last year and posted career highs in receptions (53) and receiving yards (511). Whisenhunt wouldn’t disclose how often McCluster would handle the ball. “It could vary week to week,” he said. “As long as he makes a lot of plays he is going to get a lot of touches.” According to Tennessean beat writer Jim Wyatt, McCluster is likely to get a lot of the touches that used to go to running back Chris Johnson. Other running backs under contract for 2014 are Shonn Greene, Jackie Battle and Leon Washington. McCluster and Washington are expected to share duties in the return game.
