Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
After monitoring the Smith and Carolina Panthers fallout from afar, the Ravens have their first opportunity to make their pitch to the five-time Pro Bowl receiver
after he was released following 13 NFL seasons with the Panthers. The Ravens consider Smith a great fit for what they are looking for in terms of a chain-moving wide receiver who can make tough catches in traffic and be a threat on both third down and in the red zone. The Ravens feel that Smith, who has averaged 75 catches over the past nine seasons, can be the tough and veteran presence that they lacked after trading Anquan Boldin last offseason to the San Francisco 49ers. Smith, 34, considers the Ravens one of his preferred destinations along with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Diego Chargers, a source told the Sun.
