The Facts:
Marvin Lewis earned another in his series of extensions from the Bengals when the club announced Friday he’s received one more year on his contract that takes them through 2015 with him as head coach. “Marvin has earned this commitment for the job he is doing,” said Bengals president Mike Brown in a news release. “We are one of only five teams to qualify for the playoffs the last three years, and our prospects are bright looking ahead. Marvin is driven to achieve more, and we are happy to secure his leadership of our team beyond the coming season.”

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Lewis, who turns 56 early in his 12th season, is the second longest tenured head coach in the NFL next to New England’s Bill Belichick and the longest tenured coach in club history. The Bengals went 11-5 in 2013 and won Lewis’s third AFC North Division championship. The Bengals, the Pats, and the Broncos are the only teams that have qualified for the AFC playoffs in each of the last three years and the Bengals are one of only six NFL teams to reach the playoffs four times in the last five years. Lewis, still looking for first playoff win, is 90-85-1 in the regular season and 90-90-1 overall.
