With the Panthers beginning to stretch their legs in free agency, the guys they haven’t contacted are raising their hands. Jones is sending out word that he too would be interested in filling in a blank depth chart. “I would love the opportunity to play for the Carolina Panthers,” Jones told Josina Anderson of ESPN. “I would love to play with Cam [Newton].”

As PFT's Darin Gantt suggests, the fact that he has to say so doesn’t make it seem like they were beating down his door previously. Other than some reported interest from the Jets, there hasn’t been much action for Jones. The 29-year-old has been productive the last two years, but hasn’t drawn a lot of attention on the open market. That could change in coming days.
