The Facts:
Following up on the
ongoing story. ... LaFell will add size to the New England receiving corps, at 6-2, 210 pounds. With his size he looks more like an outside guy and he did play there with Carolina. However, the Panthers also had speedsters Steve Smith and Ted Ginn, so LaFell most often moved inside. ProFootballFocus said LaFell played inside on 335 of the 532 plays he took part in last season. One reason he plays inside is because he is regarded as one of the better blockers among wide receivers in the league.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
A third-round draft choice out of LSU in 2010, LaFell caught 49 passes for 627 yards and five touchdowns last season. His best game came against New England when he caught seven passes from Cam Newton. That included a nine-yard touchdown pass as Carolina edged New England 24-20 in a controversial finish. As Journal staffer Paul Kenyon notes, LaFell fits the style of player Bill Belichick likes in that he has position versatility. With New England, Kenyon believes it is likely LaFell will work more on the outside since the Patriots already have Edelman and Danny Amendola to work inside. ... It's a situation fantasy football owners will want to watch in coming weeks.
