With the list of available free-agent talent at WR dwindling, one guy to keep an eye on is Manningham, who is familiar with Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman from their time together with the Giants.
Besides Jerricho Cotchery, who caught a career-high 10 touchdowns last season and visited Carolina on Monday, the list of available wideouts includes Sidney Rice, Santonio Holmes, Miles Austin, Kenny Britt and Jacoby Ford. The Panthers have yet to show interest in Rice, a league source told Observer staffer Joseph Person. Despite coming off two disappointing seasons with the 49ers, there is still a market for Manningham. The 27-year-old was scheduled to visit with the Giants on Monday. ... In case you haven't been following along, the Panthers have lost their top four receivers from last season. They cut franchise receiving leader Steve Smith, and saw Brandon LaFell, Ted Ginn and Domenik Hixon leave in free agency.
