The team made preliminary contact with the agent for Boerigter on Tuesday. No visit had been scheduled, but the Panthers were checking to see if Boerigter, who has several offers, had made a decision.

At 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, Boerigter has the kind of size the Panthers lack at the position. They have All-Pro Steve Smith at one receiver spot and Keary Colbert at the other. Drew Carter showed flashes of promise late last season, but it remains to be seen if he can be a third receiver or even challenge Colbert for a starting spot.
