The Facts:
Following up on the
ongoing story. ... Drew Brees knows how Graham is feeling, perhaps more than any player in the NFL. Two seasons ago, Brees and the New Orleans Saints had a protracted contract standoff after the Saints placed the franchise tag on him. Asked what he's told Graham about the process, Brees said: "I just told him be patient. Don't get frustrated. Don't take it personally. It's part of the deal and it's hard and. ... You just want it to be over. You want certainty. That's the hardest part."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Brees didn't sign the tag, and wound up missing offseason work before the sides came to a long-term deal. Based everything we know about the Saints history in these situations, that will likely be the same thing that happens with Graham. It's worth noting that Graham has not filed a grievance at being tagged at tight end as opposed to wide receiver (despite being split out wide or running out of the slot on nearly 70 percent of all the teams snaps). According to WWL-TV's Juan Kincaid, the fact a grievance hasn't come yet means it's unlikely to happen at all. Appearing on the Mar. 8 edition of the FootballDiehards on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio, Kincaid expressed his believe that Graham's failure to file the expected greivance is an indication that he and the Saints are working toward a long-term deal -- one that will likely make him the highest-paid tight end in the league. But as Brees said, this will take patience; from all of us.
