The NFL deadline for exercising fifth-year options on 2011 draft picks is May 3. As the Redzone.org explains, in the case of Green the decision is a no-brainer. Because he is due $3,059,739 in 2014 and the fifth-year option is worth $10.176 million, exercising it would keep him under Cincinnati's control for two years at $13.24 million. The earliest Green could test the free agent market would be at the age 27 in March 2016.
