Schaub To Oakland Good News For Brian Hoyer
(3/23 8:33 PT)

The Facts:
Hoyer doesn't have to be looking over his shoulder -- for now. The Browns were "seriously interested' in acquiring Texans quarterback Matt Schaub, a source told cleveland.com, but he was traded to the Raiders last Friday. The trade is good news for Hoyer, who has every intention of being the Browns' starting quarterback in 2014, and is confident he can beat out a rookie for the job. Reported by the Cleveland Plain Dealer

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The Browns are studying all of the top quarterback prospects, but general manager Ray Farmer said he won't necessarily draft one with the No. 4 overall pick. The Browns also have the No. 26 overall pick in the first round. The Browns are also interested in free-agent veteran quarterback Rex Grossman, who played for Shanahan in Houston and Washington. Grossman, 33, knows Shanahan's system inside and out and can help implement it here. Bottom line? It appears Hoyer will only have to stave off whatever rookie the Browns decide to draft. Grossman would likely play more of a backup/mentor role. So Hoyer can focus on coming back from his torn ACL -- he's ahead of schedule -- and trying to pick up where he left off last season, when he went 3-0.
