There's a surprise. ... Not. The 49ers have made it clear that getting their QB signed to a long-term deal
was a priority all year. So the fact they're saying it again, just confirms what we already knew. Kaepernick, who is entering the final year of his original four-year contract, is eligible for a new contract this offseason. He is scheduled to earn $1.073 million in 2014. Backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert has a guaranteed contract of $2.011 million. “Those things have a process that play out,” Harbaugh said Monday at the NFL owners meetings. “The priority is Colin Kaepernick is a San Francisco 49er for however long we can have him be a San Francisco 49er. It’s definitely a high priority.” In his first full season as the 49ers’ starter, Kaepernick threw for 3,197 yards with 21 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also rushed for 524 yards.
