Tomlin: Steelers Optimistic About Adding Veteran Depth Behind Le'Veon Bell
(3/25 4:35 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on the ongoing story. ... The Steelers have one more hole they would like to fill before the NFL draft and HC Mike Tomlin said today he is “optimistic” they will sign a veteran running back to back up Bell.  Reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Tomlin said the same thing upon arrival at the owners meetings on Sunday. The possibilities include former Jacksonville Jaguars Maurice Jones-Drew, who last week visited with the Steelers; and former New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount, who will meet with Tomlin and general manager Kevin Colbert on Friday when they return from the NFL owners meetings. “We need to have depth in that area and we will in the not-too-distant future, whether it’s in free agency or the draft,” Tomlin said at the NFL owners meetings. Jones-Drew is drawing interest from three other teams – the Patriots, Miami Dolphins and New York Jets – and is reportedly seeking $3-4 million per year. “We’re looking to add depth at that position, and a guy of that caliber, a been-there, done-that type of veteran, will be an asset for us,” Tomlin said. The good news here is fantasy football owners hoping for a strong sophomore season from Bell shouldn’t worry about his role (as long as he stays healthy).
