During the NFL owners meetings, HC John Harbaugh said that he wants Smith to play for the Ravens for a long time. That's a mutual goal for the Ravens and Smith. "Everybody knows I want to be in Baltimore for the long haul," Smith said Wednesday.

Smith is entering the final year of his four-year, $3.399 million rookie contract that includes $1.727 million in guaranteed money and was signed in 2011 when he was drafted in the second round. According to Sun staffer Aaron Wilson, Smith is due a nonguaranteed $837,168 base salary this season, and the Ravens would like to give the 25-year-old a significant raise and lock him up contractually for the next several years. The Ravens have yet to launch contract negotiations with Smith's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, a source told Wilson, but both sides are motivated. Smith caught a career-high 65 passes for 1,128 yards and four touchdowns last season. In three NFL seasons, Smith has caught 164 career passes for 2,824 yards and 19 touchdowns while averaging 17.2 yards per reception.
