Giants Getting More Optimistic About David Wilson's Return?
(3/27 8:35 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on the ongoing story. ... For the first time since Wilson underwent neck surgery in January, the Giants publicly expressed confidence that he may actually be on the field this season. "I'm planning that he is there until they tell me different," HC Tom Coughlin said Wednesday at the NFL owners meetings. "To what extent he's there, does his presence mean you have to have another number at that [running back] spot, all those things are possible."  Reported by the Newark Star-Ledger

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Wilson still must be cleared from a neck injury that is/was career threatening. But as Star-Ledger staffer Jordan Raanan pointed out, these latest comments set a different tone than Coughlin took last month at the NFL Combine, when he seemed much less certain Wilson would be able to withstand contact. Since then, Wilson has been working out his legs and making progress. So much so that Coughlin often reminds him to not over-exceed what the doctors recommend. "He's making outstanding progress whenever I see him," Coughlin said. "I just tell David, 'Slow down now and just stay with everything they tell you that you can and cannot do.' He's been working on his legs for a month or more. ..." It's still not known whether Wilson will be ready for training camp, the regular season or at all and the Giants have since signed Rashad Jennings and re-signed Peyton Hillis this offseason. Still, Wilson would be a welcome addition if he's cleared.
