Lions Sign Dan Orlovsky To Back Up Stafford
(4/2 3:58 PT)

The Facts:
The Detroit Lions have found a new backup for Matthew Stafford at quarterback. New might not be the best word to use in this case, however, because the man they’ve hired to fill the role is a familiar face. The team and former fifth-round pick Orlovsky have agreed to terms on a one-year deal. Reported by DetroitLions.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Orlovsky will take the place of Shaun Hill, who signed with the St. Louis Rams as a free agent this offseason. Hill had been Stafford’s backup the last four seasons. Orlovsky spent his first four seasons in the NFL with Detroit, primarily as a backup. He started seven games in 2008 and completed 143-of-255 passes (56.1 percent) for 1,616 yards with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions. He then spent time in Houston, Indianapolis and Tampa Bay. He won two games in Indianapolis in 2011 for then Colts head coach Jim Caldwell, who now holds down that role in Detroit.
