The Facts:
Following up on the
ongoing story. ... New HC Ken Whisenhunt has stated his excitement about a healthy Locker as his starting QB, but the Titans want to make sure they have fallback options. The team's brass already has visited with several top QB prospects, Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater, Blake Bortles and Derek Carr. "You always have to be prepared because you never know what can happen," Whisenhunt said. "If there is an opportunity in this draft where you have a guy you think is really good, then you have to look at it. But more importantly you have to look at 2-3 years down the road."

Although the Titans are not expected to pick up the 2015 option on Locker's contract, Whisenhunt reiterated his support. "I feel great about Jake," Whisenhunt said. "That position, there is so much intangible value to certain things that you do, and Jake has those. The guys love him, the ways he works ... To me it's a good indication of how he is going to be as a player." Barring a preseason face plant, Locker will be under center in Week 1. But given his injury history it's hard to argue there isn't a need for a solid fallback plan.
