DeSean Jackson Says Eagles Never Gave Him A Reason For His Release
(4/6 1:25 PT)

The Facts:
Jackson said that head coach Chip Kelly never gave him a reason for his release when it happened on March 28. “I was sitting there waiting for a reason why,” Jackson said about his conversation with Kelly. He said Kelly told him the team wanted to go in a different direction and that would be the best thing for him as well. Reported by the Wilmington News Journal

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Jackson, who was interviewed Friday by ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, also denied that he was involved in gang activity, contrary to what was reported by NJ.com. Jackson was released less than an hour after that report came out. Jackson signed with the Redskins on Wednesday after having a career high 82 catches for 1,332 yards last season and making the Pro Bowl for the third time in six seasons. The Eagles haven’t commented about his release other than a terse statement acknowledging that they released him. As for gang affiliation, Jackson said he knows gang members because of the Los Angeles neighborhoods he grew up in. Jackson said he doesn’t hang out with gang members, saying, “Not if they’re doing negative things.” Meanwhile, another local report quoted anonymous Eagles players saying that Jackson wasn’t well-liked on the team, that he didn’t respect Kelly, that they’re glad Kelly released him. “His being cut had nothing to do with the gang stuff," the player said. "What put him out was his selfishness. He can try and spin it all he wants how he’s ‘a team player.’ He’s not. ...” It's safe to say Jackson will remember those quotes.
