yne Weaver said he believes veterans Fred Taylor and Jimmy Smith will remain part of the offense. "As far as I'm concerned, on opening day, both of those players will be on the roster," Weaver said. "I don't always make those final decisions. We think Fred and Jimmy both have plenty of football left and we're excited to have them as a part of our roster."

There has been speculation this offseason hinting that both men faced possible release before the season begins. In fact, SportsLine.com insider Pete Prisco advised readers in January that the Jags' coaching staff
has never warmed to Taylor and there is talk of friction stemming from Taylor's injury troubles. According to Prisco: "They don't think he's tough enough. ..." Apparently Weaver does.
