Browns GM Phil Savage said kicker Phil Dawson had surgery to repair a sports hernia after the season. Dawson did not miss a game.

This might explain the team's
recent addition of Jeff Chandler, who might be a capable camp leg, but is unlikely to provide Dawson, who made 27 of 29 field-goal tries and went 5-for-5 beyond 40 yards, last year. At this point, there's no reason to believe Dawson's recovery will be an ongoing issue.
