Bucs general manager Bruce Allen said Tuesday the team remains interested in Wallace, a restricted free agent, as a candidate to augment the quarterback lineup. But Seahawks president of football operations Tim Ruskell and Wallace's agent later confirmed Seattle is trying to negotiate a contract extension for Wallace.

Seattle, which made a qualifying offer of $712,000, has the right to match any offer sheet given to Wallace. If it doesn't, the team signing Wallace would have to compensate Seattle with a fourth-round draft pick this year. The deadline for restricted free agents to sign offer sheets is April 21.
