Novak was signed Dec. 2 to fill in for an injured Neil Rackers (calf). He hit all three field-goal attempts in his first appearance as a Cardinal. Novak filled in for injured Redskin John Hall earlier in the season and kicked in five games (Weeks 2-6), converting five of seven field goal attempts and all 15 extra points. ... It would appear the Cardinals will keep him around at least through training camp -- and perhaps longer as insurance or even a kick-off specialist.
