Chargers Reward Eric Parker With New 5-Year Deal
(4/6 6:14 PT)

The Facts:
The Chargers have agreed to terms with Parker on a new five-year contract. Parker signed a three-year deal with the team in July 2004 and his contract was due to expire after the 2006 season. This new contract guarantees Parker is now under contract through 2010. "Eric represents everything we want to see in a Charger," said GM A.J. Smith. Reported by Chargers.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Parker was the team's third-leading receiver last season, with 57 catches, good for 725 yards and three touchdowns. Of Parker's 57 catches in 2005, nearly one-third (17) came on third down and nearly two-thirds (35) resulted in first downs. ... Of course, he'll be playing with a new starter at QB in Philip Rivers, whose presence will merit closer pre-season scrutiny for all San Diego receivers.
