The official announcement was merely a formality. Williams was already signed to a six-year contract worth $54 million, including $26.5 million guaranteed late Friday. Many expected the Texans to select Reggie Bush, but GM Charley Casserly insisted all along he was seriously considering Williams, who entered the draft as a junior, with the top pick as well.
