Volek knows Vince Young is the Titans' QB of the future. Volek just wants the opportunity to be the Titans' quarterback of the present. With Steve McNair in limbo regarding his future with the franchise and the Titans on record as saying they will bring Young along slowly, Volek currently sits atop the depth chart.

Volek believes all he needs to prove himself is an extended audition. But McNair's departure doesn't guarantee even that. If McNair doesn't return the team is expected to add another veteran QB, perhaps Kerry Collins or Tommy Maddox.
