Williams missed the final two days of mini-camp after being sent home. "I excused him on a team issue. I'm going to leave it at those words," Rod Marinelli said Friday after the squad wrapped up its three-day mandatory mini-camp. The coach said Williams is expected to return to the team next week.

Last year, Williams was fined often for two continuing problems: Being overweight and being late to meetings. A source close to the situation told Booth beat man Tom Kowalkski weight was not an issue this time. ... Mike Martz spoke highly of Williams on Thursday but said he hadn't been available for practice recently. "I just haven't seen him (practice) for about six weeks. He's just been injured or whatever." The word "whatever," followed by Marinelli's action Friday, has led some to question the level of commitment Williams has made.
