Gore (shoulder) practiced with the team for the first time this spring on Monday. He will be excused for the remainder of the week's practices to attend to family business in Florida.

While Trent Dilfer (knee) also took his first repetitions in 11-on-11 drills, Gore, who underwent surgery on both shoulders (in separate procedures), is of primary interest. Many observers expect him to take over as the starter -- even if the Niners continue to use Kevan Barlow to keep Gore fresh. We agree.
