Receivers Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh are entrenched at Nos. 1-2. With Chris Henry fast becoming a non-factor because of his legal issues -- four arrests in seven months -- the No. 3 slot is an open competition, but Washington, Antonio Chatman and Tab Perry are showing separation from the pack at mini-camp. "Kelley is still holding that spot," head coach Marvin Lewis said Friday.

Washington was deactivated for nine games last year, but is back in the mix thanks to his off-season work ethic. He's a big, physical receiver whose speed and route-running have improved. "You can't help but improve when you're catching balls from Carson [Palmer] and you practice with Chad and T.J.," said Washington, who seems to understand Henry's transgressions are a major opportunity.
