The Bucs are searching for a veteran backup to Chris Simms because Luke McCown will have surgery for a partially torn ACL in his right knee this week. Fiedler, 34, is coming off surgery to his throwing shoulder, an injury that limited him to two appearances for New York last season. The 11-year veteran was released by the Jets in February.
