Tim Couch's Future Clouded By Further Shoulder Surgery
(7/2 9:34 PT)

The Facts:
Couch has again undergone surgery on his right shoulder and will not play football in 2006. Whether the former No. 1 overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft will ever play again in the NFL is uncertain at best. Couch has been told not to throw again for six months. If doctors then clear him to throw again, those close to him believe Couch will try one more comeback attempt. Reported by the Lexington Herald Leader

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Couch has not played in a regular-season NFL game since 2003, his last year with Cleveland, the franchise that took him with the first choice in the 1999 draft. The odds are stacked high against a quarterback sitting out for three full seasons and then making a successful return to the NFL. Still, Couch is young enough to entertain that hope. He will turn 29 on the 31st of this month.
