The Facts:
Ramsey, acquired in a March trade with the Redskins, was due to become an unrestricted free agent after the upcoming season, but he received a one-year, $2.1 million extension through 2007. That includes a $1.4 million roster bonus, payable in March -- the same time Chad Pennington is due a $2 million roster bonus. It's unlikely that both quarterbacks will be back in 2007, setting the stage for a Pennington-or-Ramsey decision next offseason.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
In exchange for postponing his free-agent year, Ramsey got a small guarantee from the Jets, receiving $250,000 of his non-guaranteed base salary for this season ($1.7 million) in the form of a roster bonus that was paid June 30. Daily News staffer Rich Cimini suggests it's possible that Ramsey was concerned about making the team after a somewhat disappointing performance in last month's mini-camp.
