The Facts:
Chuck Price, one of Leinart's agents, said Tuesday the intention is to begin negotiations with the Cards in earnest early next week. "We have a lot of confidence in something getting done," Price said. "It's not going to be this hard-fought, animosity-filled situation. But with the nature of the contract and how complex it will be, it might take some time. Both sides want to be comfortable."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The Cardinals don't report to training camp until July 30, so there remains ample time. Leinart was drafted 10th overall. Last year's No. 10 pick, Detroit receiver Mike Williams signed a fiveyear contract worth as much as $13.5 million, with $10.5 million of that guaranteed. Leinart, as a quarterback, will likely be looking for a markedly better deal. With the No. 11 pick also a quarterback -- Denver's Jay Cutler -- one might try to wait to see what the other signs for before agreeing to his own deal.
