Avant, a fourth-round draft pick, signed a four-year deal with the Eagles on Thursday. Avant is the sixth of the Eagles' eight draft picks to sign.

The 6-foot, 212-pound receiver caught 82 passes for 1,007 yards and eight touchdowns for Michigan last year while serving as team captain. Avant is in the group of young receivers (including Greg Lewis) that OC Marty Mornhinweg recently said would compete "hot and heavy" for the top four jobs. Reggie Brown, Todd Pinkston and Jabar Gaffney are the top three.
