The Facts:
Cowboys VP Stephen Jones acknowledged that the team is working behind the scenes on contract extensions for a few key veterans. He declined to identify the players because he didn't want it to be a distraction in camp. But according to a source, a new deal with Witten, whose contract expires at the end of the season, could be completed in camp if not before.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Witten is one of three prominent veterans, along with safety Roy Williams and linebacker Bradie James, who are entering the final season of their contracts, but it appears giving Witten, who became the first tight end in Cowboys history to post consecutive seasons with at least 65 catches, an extension is the top priority. Witten said last month he was hopeful a new deal can be reached before the start of camp.
