The Facts:
Faulk will have major reconstructive knee surgery and almost certainly miss the entire 2006 season, coach Scott Linehan said Friday. The surgery could spell the end of Faulk's career after 12 years in the NFL. But Linehan said at a news conference the 33-year-old Faulk isn't ready to call it quits. Faulk didn't attend the news conference.

Faulk is expected to have the surgery on one of his knees next week, the Rams said. It was unclear which knee would be the focus of the operation. Faulk had lesser surgery on both knees earlier this year. ... Meanwhile, ESPN.com insider Len Pasquarelli confirms the Rams have contacted the agent for Saints running back Michael Bennett -- but a deal with New Orleans is not currently imminent.
