The Vikings signed Jackson, one of their second-round draft picks, to a four-year contract on Wednesday. Rookies and selected veterans are required to report for training camp today. "Tarvaris understands that every rep is important at training camp, and we're glad he's on board as camp starts," Brad Childress said.

Jackson, a surprise pick from Alabama State at 64th overall, was the fifth quarterback taken in this year's draft. He finished his three-season career ranked seventh in Southwestern Athletic Conference history with 67 touchdown passes. His signing bonus was about $1 million. He'll open camp behind starter Brad Johnson and Mike McMahon.
