The New England Patriots signed veteran tight end Rasby and released rookie safety Jarvis Herring on Friday.

Rasby spent his 11th NFL season last year with Washington, catching five passes in six games. He's also played for Pittsburgh, Carolina, Detroit and New Orleans. He has 64 catches in his career for 584 yards and five touchdowns. Suffice it to say he's better known for his blocking than his receiving.
