The Facts:
Head coach Norv Turner predicts strong competition when camp opens July 29 -- "especially at the receiver position." While that interpretation may have included Tim Brown and Jerry Rice, Turner's apparent reference was to the competition that will exist between Doug Gabriel, Ronald Curry, Alvis Whitted and rookies Carlos Francis and Johnnie Morant.

Gabriel might be a player worth watching this summer. Has been mentioned as possible starter opposite Porter (with Rice as No. 3). If I were to take a guess now I'd expect Brown to hold on to the No. 3 spot. In any case, Porter and Rice will be the only guys having much of an impact in fantasy land.
