(7/30 1:0 PT)

The Facts:
Though Derrick Ward is a candidate to back up Tiki Barber again this season, it's clear the Giants' biggest hope is with Jacobs, who emerged as a training camp sensation last year, dazzling everyone with his rare combination of speed and size. But for all his hype, Jacobs had only 38 carries for 99 yards last season. And he was erratic in his role as the short-yardage back. Reported by the New York Daily News

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
That's why the 6-4, 265-pound Jacobs, recognizing those issues, spent the offseason studying film of Eddie George -- a 6-3, 235-pound back who rushed for 10,441 yards in a nine-year career. He even called the ex-Titan to get some advice, then spent months working on keeping his hips and upper body low. "I'm just trying to better myself so I am able to take over when Tiki's ready to hang it up," Jacobs said. "There's still so much I don't know. At the same time I feel like I've learned so much. ..." Stay tuned. We'll find out how his efforts pay off soon enough.
