The Facts:
It had become increasingly obvious that something might be wrong with Kasay. Kasay, the last original Panther, suited up but didn't kick at all during the either of two practices on opening day of training camp last Saturday. Yesterday, John Fox held Kasay out altogether. "John Kasay had some leg soreness, so we held him out," Fox said.

And after saying that Kasay is experiencing some pain in his kicking leg, the Panthers later signed an emergency place-kicker to work in Kasay's stead until Kasay is healthy again. The new kicker is MacKenzie Hoambrecker, who last kicked in the NFL for the San Diego Chargers in 2004. Fox said that he didn't think Kasay would be sidelined for long, so Hoambrecker's stay with the team could be brief.
