Kaeding on Saturday drilled a 60-yard field goal to highlight the Chargers' FanFest practice before an estimated 12,000 fans at Qualcomm Stadium. There was some wind at his back, but not much. "That was huge," Marty Schottenheimer said. "I just loved it. Almost brought tears to my eyes, to be honest with you."

Kaeding, 24, said he couldn't remember making a longer kick in a "legitimate" practice situation, but was more pleased with his consistency than his length. .. "I know there's a good majority of guys that have as strong a leg as I do, if not stronger," he said. "My thing is consistency. We kicked 12 field goals before practice and eight with the team there and I didn't miss a single one of them. I'm more happy being 20-of-20 than I was making the 60-yarder." Still, the ability to go long is a positive.
