Droughns pleaded not guilty this morning, following a May domestic violence arrest in Colorado. Droughns faces third-degree assault and harassment charges in a trial slated for February 5, 2007.

Conviction on the assault charge would carry a penalty of six to 18 months in jail and conviction on the harassment charge would carry a penalty of up to six months in jail. Both charges are misdemeanors. ... The February trial date obviously works in Droughns' favor -- at least in terms of how the charges might affect his 2006 season.
