The need in New England is obvious. On the other end, Gabriel's departure is a bit of a surprise. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Ronald Curry -- who just recently rejoined the team after missing nearly two years with Achilles injuries -- may be one of the reasons Gabriel was traded. Curry started last year as the No. 3 receiver -- and was replaced in the rotation by Gabriel after he was injured. Gabriel started all five of the Raiders' exhibtion games. The move could also help Jerry Porter, who was relegated to the No. 4 spot until today.
