Shan Andrus' release was the direct result of Vinatieri's left, or plant, foot being sound enough for Vinatieri to kick against the New York Giants in Sunday night's regular-season opener.

Andrus told Star staffer Mike Chappell the team put Vinatieri through a workout on Friday and, according to Andrus, Vinatieri experienced no problems. The Colts, Andrus said, "told me they felt Adam was 100 percent and would be ready for the Giants, so they decided to let me go. ..."
