Joe Gibbs said Portis is still day-to-day and he was unsure if the star running back will be available for Monday's opener at FedEx Field against the Minnesota Vikings. "The decision will be pretty much up to [Portis]" the coach said.

While reports by ESPN have characterized Portis as doubtful, it's far too early to make any hard and fast decisions. The Redskins practice Thursday through Saturday and Gibbs said he would need to see Portis on the field before he would start him against Minnesota. "He would have to be out there going 100 percent and slamming it around before we would want to play him," Gibbs added. Stay tuned. More on Portis to come.
